In an effort to reduce outfit creativity, the school has created a new uniform and surprisingly harsh punishments. Until now, students have donned a myriad of black Align Lululemon leggings, Aritzia SuperPuff Coats, Lululemon 5” inseam shorts in a variety of colors (ranging from light gray to dark gray), and Alo Yoga sweatshirts whose only distinguishing characteristic is the shiny Alo logo in the corner. The school, after deep investigation in the form of advisery surveys, determined that they should require a uniform for students in order to create a more cohesive hallway experience. In the middle of February, the school followed through with the plan and opened a uniform shop, requiring all students to purchase the new designs and heavily enforcing the brand new rules.
The uniform incorporates these quintessential New Trier clothing items along with a new Artizia x NT collab collection. The new collection includes a wide variety of New Trier branded Aritzia merchandise, though the school made some shocking changes to the brand’s typical style.
Any real Aritzia fan knows that one of the brand’s main attributes is its adherence to neutral colors, giving the clothing a more elevated feel. The brand has almost a cult following, attracting throngs of teenage girls to buy elevated basics in fitting rooms without mirrors. The school, picking up on the shopping fever, decided to make the “informal uniform” into a new source of revenue. Students are now required to make a visit to the One Stop Trev Shop, which has been artfully renamed the One Stop TnA Shop after Artizia’s popular activewear line, TnA.
One of the major changes was the switch from the signature Aritzia cream color to a classic “New Trier White”. Flabbergasted, students rushed to find their ID’s and line up outside the One Stop TnA Shop.
After the first day of the new uniform launch, the One Stop employee (yes, there’s only one) realized that he might need some extra help, as the store was overrun by legging and puffer coat clad girls looking for some high quality “basics”. The employee, George, called for backup, reportedly screaming, “Help! There’s too many, and I don’t know what an elevated basic is!” The school responded immediately, sending the Winnetka National Guard to George’s aid.
According to the new dress code, girls will be required to wear cable knit sweaters and wide leg slacks sage green and “New Trier White”. Additionally, girls will have the opportunity to choose their style of SuperPuff; however, they will be limited to various shades of brown, white, and black.
Noticing the widespread casual dress of many New Trier boys, the school has decided to force male students to wear formal clothing. Because Aritzia does not sell clothes for men, New Trier has partnered with Ralph Lauren to provide a “quietly luxurious” wardrobe. This wardrobe is mainly made up of navy blue and emerald green sweaters, khaki pants, and a variety of leather dress shoes. Ralph Lauren also agreed to make white collared shirts with a small rendering of Trevius Maximus embroidered onto the collar. This detail, according to the school, will subtly boost school spirit .
As for the One Stop TnA Shop, students have bought out the store multiple times, causing the school to open up a new Aritzia x NT and Ralph Lauren x NT popup in Old Orchard. The school, surprised by the popularity of the popup, is set to announce a series of new collaborations. Though the new partnerships are unknown, we predict that the new brands will focus even more on fashion. Perhaps Gucci or Rolex will be next?
